Hey guys,

I have been with mac for a long time now except I can't play that many games on it so I recently got into building computers and I want to attempt to build my own computer but I have no idea of what is good or bad and what is pricy or not in the computer world. But I did create a imaginary setup. I was wondering what you guys thought of it. Here it is:

  • Obsidian Series 750D Full Tower ATX Case from Corsair
  • Rampage IV Black Edition Motherboard from Asus
  • Intel Core I7-4770k Processor from Intel
  • Geforce GTX 780 Graphics Card from Asus (probably dual)
  • Platinum Series 1000w PSU from Seasonic
  • Vengeance 16GB(2x8) Dual Channel  DDR3 2400Mhz

This is all I have so far... The total amount is roughly $2500 but I still have to account for cooling. So it would be great if I could have a little input here.

Thanks.

Wrong board for 1150.

Stick with air. If you're in for performance, water cooling is a hobby, it's not completely practical.

The parts you picked except for the GPU are a bit...excessive, are you really sure you need them?

the possessor wont fit in that motherboard.

you will need a motherboard that will fit 1150 socket, if you still want a asus board that can use the i7-4770k you could get one of the asus rog series motherboards

you have to choose a motherboard that is compatible with your CPU. If you want water-cooling, go with the H100i, or Swiftek H220. Yu could also go a size up and get an NZXT Kraken X60 or a Corsair H110. This totally depends on how much money you want to spend. You can also just go with a great aircooler. They tend to be a little cheaper :) Good luck, and for gods sake, change that motherboard.

The 3x Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm fans are to replace the case fans.
The 2 x Corsair Air Series AF140 Red 66.4 CFM 140mm fans are to replace the AIO fans. Corsair doesn't make 140mm high static pressure fans.
I didn't pick Noctua fans because they look like absolute shit. If the OP doesn't care about that then slap 6 Noctua fans in this case.
You can obviously lower the budget by knocking off 1 GPU ($3621.91) or knocking off 2 x monitors and keeping both GPU's ($3587.91) and you can get a SSD for a bit cheaper for an "off brand" (save maybe $50), I prefer Samsung as they are some of the fastest on the market. Cheaper SSD's are fast but not as fast as ones you pay a little more for usually. You could also further reduce the cost by getting a standard heatsink like the Hyper 212 Evo and downgrading the PSU if you ditch one of the GPU's to like a 550-600W.

CPU: i7-3930K @ 4.8GHz MOBO: IV Gene RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1866MHz GPU: GTX 780 Ti CASE: Corsair 350D STORAGE: 2 x Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, 2x WD Red 4TB
PSU
: EVGA SuperNova 650W DISPLAY: 1 x ASUS VG248QE, 3 x Dell U2414H COOLING: Corsair H100i INPUT: Corsair Vengeance K70, SteelSeries Sensei AUDIO: Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, ATH-M50s, Beredynamic DT770 Pro, Steelseries H Wireless

If you are new to building I would suggess that you go for less expensive first setup. Unless you really are into video/photo editing or 3d stuff. So i5 4670K or FX-8350 will be enough. Find some nice mobo that has features you feel needed and some 1600/2133MHz ram with it. Doing your own build is good since you can always add stuff later.

Build is overpriced for what it does and is a bit wonky with parts not fitting and psu being overkill and such.
