rx 580 and vega 56? nothing new.. you will have to go back 1 or 2 generations for that...

Large? Not quite. 
Worth it? Depend on price.

 

I upgraded from 290x to 980 Ti, performance different is noticeable and pretty significant especially in game like GTA:5 where AMD cards gotgimpedperform poorly.

My 290x performance is similar to factory overclocked 580.

On the AMD side, it'd be the RX 590 (soon to be released) at about 300USD. On the nVidia side of thing, the GTX 1070 sits between the RX 580 and VEGA 56, in terms of performance that is.
