reballing

does anyone have information on reballing? and if so i was going to reball my xbox one console, but what if instead of re soldering the standard xbox one apu i soldered on an xbox one x apu? is it at all possible and if not why

Sure thing! You could do it. But the Xbox software is made for that one configuration of hardware. It can't be upgraded.

You know that reballing is just re soldering the joints of a chip?

The only difference is that on a graphic chip this is nearly impossible without the proper tools.

 

And also did you by chance think not only about the chip size difference between the Xbox One and the One X but also the cooling solution?

even if this where to work i don't think the old cooling can handle the much higher heat output.

Is it broken? because it sounds like you've heard about reballing and just want to try it, if the console works then it doesn't need any chips to be reballed.

there are so many reasons why thats not possible, also afaik chip on the xbox one x is physically different (larger?)

-reballing is a difficult process that to do properly requires expensive equipment and still doesn't always work - see linus's louis rossman video

-I don't think reballing would solve anything

-you most definitely could not change the x and one chips, they are completely different
