a 2200G will be too slow in a few years anyway, so...

Same with the 4th gen which is why it's acceptable, and why  my recommendation went with a 3rd gen core i5, but this may prove to be an issue if the OP wants to use their hardware for an additional 10+ years.

but yeah i will admit used parts can be a risk.

Indeed they can.

realistically you can't expect something that's already old or is one of the lowest end cpu's around to last 10+ years...

fair but then the gpu will be the bottleneck as the OP will use a GTX 1060...

If well cooled and not OC'ed, a CPU can easily last 10+ years, even if it a low end one. But yes the 4th gen processor already has 5 years on it, it will probably will not last another ten which is a disadvantage.

i mean it will be too slow in 10+ years. just try to use a system from 2008 as a main machine today... you can do it, it just won't be very fast.

R7 1700s are now $200 at retail depending on sales, you're overestimating the cost to upgrade a Ryzen system

and if you're just doing 60hz gaming the R3 2200G will be fine

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

indeed, I have another computer with a Core 2 Quad. Even now though it can still play games, it makes for a great server, it a can ably still browse the internet, and another thing to note is we are nearing the limit of how small we can make transistors, which means that there will probably be a smaller difference in the capabilities of today's machines and the ones that will be on the market in 2028 in comparison to the ones that released in 2008 and the ones that we have today.
