Loud noise

Go to solution Solved by Kayn,

If it's not your GPU then it might be your CPU cooler.

I didn't know if I should post this in GPU or Troubleshooting.

I recently bought a R9 270, I love it and does what I want it to do well however it makes a lot of noise. I have been monitoring it with MSI Afterburner. It runs at about 50-55 degrees celsius while gaming however the fan speed and RPM graphs do not go up but the cards noise does. I just want to double check everything is fine.

maybe you just got a faulty product maybe ring up amd see what they can do then try and RMA it, but some people say these are noisy cards others say there silent so.

Id attribute it to your cpu fan. Those things can get loud under load.

Well I don't think it is my CPU as I get a temp rise of about 14 degrees. I think MSI afterburner is just wrong. It only happens when I game also. I don't think I need to RMA it, I think it is just a bit loud

You were correct, MSI afterburner wouldn't tell me but Liam-McShane kindly recommended me CPUID and yep it is the stock cooler fan

Yeah those AMD stock CPU coolers really ramp up hard on the fan curve, its quiet until you do anything. but since you can get good aftermarket coolers for £20ish.

AMD Ryzen 5900x, Nvidia RTX 3080 (MSI Gaming X-trio), ASrock X570 Extreme4, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB @ 3200mhz CL16, Corsair MP600 1TB, Intel 660P 1TB, Corsair HX1000, Corsair 680x, Corsair H100i Platinum
