Nvidia GTX 1080 Native Resolution Problem

Hello all,

I have my pc connected to my 4k tv. Yes im using the correct hdmi cable, and yes my tv info says the native resolution to be 4096x2160.

 

My nvidia settings are showing my native resolution to be 3840x2160 which is incorrect. This in turn is causing my games that i run in 4k to have black bars on the sides.

I tried that and it says the resolution already exists...the problem im having is getting the pc to recognize the native resolution of my tv...my native resolution is listed but its not identified as the native resolution, and i believe its causing issues in game

then click on the resolution of the TV, apply the settings to force the GPU to output that resolution.

right, i do force it to display in the actual resolution of my tv...however since my pc wont correctly identify the actual native resolution its causing my games to display black bars on the sides

then it's back to custom resolution route. What if you lower the refresh rate to 50Hz?

then to 24Hz? I dont know the TV's supported refresh rate through HDMI, could be as low as 24

4K is 3840x2160 though...

Even though 3840x2160 is called "4k" its not true 4k, although it is close. Google True 4k vs 3840x2160. My tv is a true 4k panel. Meaning the native resolution of my tv is 4096x2160. It wouldnt be a big deal if it wouldnt place black bars on the sides of my screen while im gaming.

except 4K in the movie industry isnt 16:9

Yes sir, Its conntected to correct slot...the other is labeled VR.

What tv, what card? Do you have anything that renders that res properly on the tv and can see it pop up on the tv when switching to it?
