do you have a source for a motherboard and DDR4 ram?

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Is that in the US? because you can get an R7 1700 for $200 retail and it'll work fine on $100 new motherboards

Ryzen killed a lot of intel's former "value"

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Good afternoon.

I have an opportunity to buy a 6900K for approx. $300.00 U.S.

Used for about 1 1/2 years.

Trustworthy source.

Should I but it? Yeah, or Nay.

Which leads to another question.

( I never really thought about.)

Does a CPU have an average life span.

Thanks.

why not get a 8700k? it's way easier to get mobo's for. and it will perform about the same or even better in some tasks.

Depends on the workload. Cache advantage on the CPU as well as quad channel makes a good difference. Especially that quad channel.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Why buy an old X99 motherboard in the first place then ask about CPU recommendations..I'd still say sell the board and go for Ryzen lol. Easier to cool Ryzen as well.

I do streaming/recording/editing and it doesn't seem like quad channel has mattered for my 1950X
