CPU - 8 core users?

Hi P
Go to solution Solved by FloRolf,

Virtual machines, 3D Modeling, mathematical/physical calculations, simulations, en/transcoding, etc.

I was wondering, putting streaming and video rendering aside, how do you make use of 8 cores?

Thank you

Serving VirtualMachines (Linux/Windows/WhateverOS)
Playing a game on 4 cores while 4 NOT-attached to Game.exe are Tied to Adobe.exe rendering or any multitasking example...
4Cores Playing Games + 4cores Transcoding tasks of Re-encoding Video ON the FLY,. to be smaller for network bandwidth limitations/device limitations, aka Streaming Movies/TV to phone via network via re-encoded files on the fly.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Uh... I look at them being all pretty in task manager, Destiny 2 uses most of them, and um... bragging rights. And every now and then I stream or edit some stuff.

A lot of newer games are utilizing lots of cores.  My 2700x is at 50-60% usage playing Forza Horizon 4 with a 1080ti on 2k 144hz.

I stream video and do other things on a second monitor while playing and the extra cores keep the whole experience smooth.

Virtual machines, multiple background apps / services, bragging rights.

To touch on the virtual machine side of things, you can set CPU affinity for a certain machine to only use specific cores. For example, 3 virtual machines on an 8 core CPU, virtual machine 1 can use 0 - 1, virtual machine 2 can use 2 - 5 and virtual machine 3 can use core 6, and leave core 7 for the host/system.

I have 12 cores 24 threads on my server and so far all I've done is look at it in task manager...pretty. In all honesty it will end up running dos ping boxes.
