UFC 230

Srnewbee

Anyone fan of both tech and MMA betting?

I love MMA betting.

For UFC 230, who do you think takes home the glory?

this is my opinion

Daniel Cormier vs Derrick Lewis (Cormier win, 2R KO)

Luke Rockhold vs Chris Weidman (Rockhold, 3R decision)

I really don't care about anyone else.

He might be like me and not find joy in watching men and women beat each other up for money.

MMA is a good skill to have from a self defense perspective, but it feels like a more sick form of entertainment to me.

I like to participate - I train 5 days a week, teach 5 days a week, Id rather do it then watch it lol.  When I was younger (34 now) I was either at, rented, or watched everything and at some point it just got old lol.  Ive coached cage side so many times - that watching a TV isn't .... fun lol

No I think its great - I think that Men in particular 200 years ago only had a few outlets to blow steam (and that was to pillage the next neighboring town).  I think that the UFC and the ilk are the new Roman Coliseum of the 2000th century.

Id rather put the gloves on and participate than watch :) I train with guys in the UFC, Bellator etc and that's where the real action is!

Plus I prefer Jiu Jitsu - Id watch that all day every day if my wife would let me.  So much intricate math going on.

I do not want to sound sexist or homophobic but just looking from a purely biologically standpoint, most men with a normal level of testosterone will be attracted to violence.

For you, I am guessing you are either a female or a male with a low testosterone.

that is freaking amazing. I would love to do jujitsu with elite athletes but

1) I am a bit outta shape... I have Daniel Cormier's body composition except I have no cardio. I lift weights and stretch so I have decent muscle and decent flexibility. I would say I have zero cardio. 12 minute run at 9kmph on a treadmill exhausts me.

2) I do not want cauliflower ears

3) I am a bit too old to start training from no experience although I have extensive experience in martial arts from 20 years ago (in my mid 30s)

4) also I don't wanna get hurt

So I sit behind my computer betting money and analyzing lol

Incoming Coach lol

1.) I started 9 years ago at 340 lbs after wresting for 5 years at 189 lbs.  Stopped exercising, ballooned up.  Found Jiu Jitsu.  Best shape of my life.

2.) I do not have cauliflower ear.  Just tap to headlocks and guillotines (or don't get caught with em ;) ) - Cauliflower ear is typically an ego issue.  Tap, you cant lose in a dojo.

3.) I train with guys in there 60-70+.  MY FAVORITE is when the young buck comes in and a I have my 72 yo nicknamed Doc take em out.  To show them its real, and don't judge a book by its cover.

4.) This year I have experienced two injuries - dislocated ankle and I dislocated my middle finger yesterday.  We simulate murder in the safest form available.  Injuries CAN happen, but refer to part two of #2 and injuries aren't very frequent.  My ankle...I dislocated it myself pulling on it for leverage and cut a bad angle.  Math!

My advise - start yesterday.  The best thing I have EVER done in my life.  It changed me as a Man, Husband, Father, Employee.

Nothing in life seems as bad after training.  Because the likelihood of someone in the real world trying to choke you out or break your limbs is low.  So you learn to see problems to solve completely differently and you don't mind being under situations of duress.  You experience worse duress in training daily.

:)

DO EEEET

If you PM me where you live I can easily peruse the facilities around you and recommend - Im a nobody but I am a somebody and know a lot of people in the fight world and would gladly recommend a great place to start :)

I wouldn't say I'm attracted or unattracted to violence. I don't view it as the first option, or find entertainment in it.

I do believe it's necessary, but for the most part, I don't find joy or entertainment in watching people beat each other up.

We'll see where that gets me in BCT...

I think Cormier will take him down early and sub him in the 1st round. He's fighting hurt. No way he'll stand and trade.

I dunno, Cormier is a smart dude. He knows that Lewis' cardio will last him the 1st round. A fighter with a full gas tank is not optimal for submission attempts. The way I see it, DC will wear him out in round 1 and try to submit Lewis but its all a ruse to wear him down. In round 2, DC will wait until Lewis starts swinging big because Lewis knows that he is almost outta gas. DC will use that opportunity to either submit Lewis or KO him in the 2nd.

That's right i totally agree. DC always tries to wear out his opponents in the first round so i think he will finish it in the second or the third one. He doesn't have to submit him he is better in striking and probably in every aspect so i think if he stays calm and patient it would be one of his easiest wins.

I think so too. I mean if you lookk at the money line, its somethinkg like -600 Cormier vs +350 Lewis. One thing that I am pretty worried about is a lucky shot. If DC slips and Lewis gets one good shot, its game over. But the way I see it, I see it 95% Cormier winning at 5% for Lewis. The only reason why I am not betting on this fight is because the earnings from the winning is smaller than the deposit/ withdrawal fee. Lol
