Nintendo Switch - Prove me wrong.

Good morning, afternoon or evening brains trust,

 

At this point in time, I like the idea of the switch, but I cannot justify myself to spend $500 AUD on it.

 

I enjoy the mario series, legend of zelda series and do play most games that are on the switch.

 

I am just after some general feedback if it would be worth spending the $500 bucks or wait for the price to drop sometime in the future.

Its only $300 in the US, but the game are usually around $50

Not a bad idea, I see here that it gets released early 2019. I've waited this long, I can always wait more.

Good luck waiting out that price drop. Nintendo never even did one for the Wii U that nobody bought.

I thought the rumor was late 2019. I say just buy the thing unless you want to wait a couple of years for the Yuzu emulator to be reasonably playable. Though you can already play the Wii U version of Zelda BOTW pretty well with Cemu provided you have a good cpu.

New? I see them used that cheap on places like offerup and letgo but I have never seen them sold cheap retail and new. There definitely was never an official price drop.

Probably not official, they're like apple or some microsoft hardware, just look at the mac mini

He did say that price was in Australian pennies...which is actually around $350usd. Not as drastic of a difference as it first seems.

Wait till Jan 2019 to see if Nintendo announces their "New" Nintendo Switch and see what the pricing and offering is.

The Switch isn't worth half its MSRP.  The selection of good games that offer a half decent experience or better on this console is pathetically small. The Joycons are uncomfortable and all around bad controllers, as a handheld it seriously fucking sucks, the docked experience isn't much better, and battery life of the joycons have been super inconsistent for me.
