x99 MB build.

Friend has a x99 motherboard, 8 gb ram,  psu and case he would give me. I have a 1070. only thing I would need is cpu. is it worth it buying a lga 2011. Seem kind of dated. Should I be looking to buy a new motherboard with  a 8700k. Money is an issue. reading this is like a video editing cpu?  photo editing? Would be nice to get into something like that. Is there a used lga 2011 cpu I should be looking for that has good price performance? Would be nice to only pick up a used cpu for 100-250, Also don't want any problems with a computer after these last 2 months. My mac went out and ordered a new g7 and got nothing but headaches and frustration  Thanks any help would be much appreciated!

I mean x99 is still a capable platform, but I doubt you will get a cpu for that low. maybe look at a 5820k, they could go for relatively cheap.

The 8700K would be the better platform imo. In some instances it's faster than a 5820K. X99 does have RAM bandwidth if that's what you need. 

 

What X99 motherboard does your friend have?

Huh, I have my old 5960x lying around somewhere, not sure where I left it.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..
