Is the PG279Q a good monitor

Subjectively, yes, it is a very good monitor. Its 165Hz refresh rate is great and its IPS panel means great color and great viewing angles. It's one of the best 1440p gaming monitors available.

 

However, a GTX 1070 cannot reach 165fps at 1440p (ultra settings) anyways so maybe getting a monitor that has a lower refresh rate makes more sense?

 

The Asus MG279Q is cheaper, still IPS, still 27", and takes you to 144Hz, so you still won't hit that 144fps threshold but at least you're not spending the extra money for no reason.

I'd recommend the VG248QE, the PG248Q comes at a bit of an unnecessary premium. 

 

What is your fps in overwatch? Cause if it's not over 144fps then get the VG248QE. If you're getting over 144fps then get the PG248Q.

The VG248QE has g-sync but I'd say either is a good choice. You'll be happy either way!
