Would it be worth it?

Right now i have the worst 1080ti model possible (the zotac 1080ti mini which i bought for an itx case, but i dont have an itx case)

So i found this pretty nice deal for a 1080ti MSI gaming X. If i bought it and sold my 1080ti hoover edition, my pc would probably become much quieter?

Is the gaming X a quiet card?

Seeing as i have the cheapest 1080ti, i would have to sell it at 450, while the 1080ti gaming x is 650, so the difference is 150.

But the gpu is the loudest part of my pc by far, so it probably would be a good idea.

Gaming X is a fairly quiet cooler from what I hear(pun not intended).

 

That would probably be worth it. Never buy a mini card unless you're constrained by your case.

I'd probably just buy one of those huge aftermarket heatsinks and slap it on top of the Zotac mini. You can reuse these coolers, and they are much more capable than MSI's twin frozr cooler.

Yeah the way i got my gpu was really awkward. I bought a mini gpu and a new psu to support it for my itx case, but the psu didnt fit.

So i bought an matx case, and now the gpu is very loud compared to the rest of the system.

The zotac 1080ti mini has an entirelly different pcb than a normal blower 1080ti, so i think it wouldnt work.

Ultimately it's your money. If having a quieter system is worth the $150-200, absolutely go for it

The MSI Gaming X GPU's have good thermal performance and are 'quiet'

I'm not talking about liquid ones, but air ones. Those arent affected by the PCB since they only mount to the screws around the GPU which are universal

 

Unless you can sell your Zotac for more that is.

I don't play that much at all, so i will keep my current gpu until 2019, and if the amd 7nm gpus are atleast as good as the 1080ti i will get that, so i could use my freesync monitor.
