Usb Flash Drive 32GB

sotiris.bos

Kind of a silly topic. I'm in the market for a cheap and reliable 32gb flash drive. Are there any performance benefits with Usb 3.0 drives? Any suggestions?

Why do i always get blue screens? Why not a red one for a change?

USB 3 over USB 2? Hell yes it is definitely worth it if most of your stuff has USB 3. Kingston, Sandisk and Corsair all have some nice flashdrives.

Of course there is, that's the entire point of USB 3.0.

I know that in theory Usb 3 is vastly better but are there performance gains with Usb flash drives or is it just a marketing scheme?

That's actually a pretty legitimate question IMO. The last USB3 flash drive I bought

is about two years old and was pretty cheap (size: 16 GB), and indeed it just about

manages to reach full USB2 write speeds.

I have no idea how the situation is today though.

The Mushkin Ventura Plus is the best one in my opinion, it's among the faster drives out there and it's fairly inexpensive.

Yes, the performance benefits over USB 2.0 are very real, but of course if you're not transferring large files it won't matter either way.  I carry 300MB drivers and 1GB+ benchmark programs like 3DMark around on mine, and I'm definitely thankful for USB 3.0.
