500 series to 600 wasnt that large. 600 to 700 wasnt that large aside from the top-cards.

I'm still using my 560 :D

Because those cards are available now, which Maxwell isn't.

It's like asking why people would buy 800-series cards, when obviously, the 900-series will be out eventually.

yeah, but we know that the series will be coming the first quartal this year.

so, woul you recommend waiting a month or two? or go for 700s?

Sure, some cards from the 800-series might show up early this year, but I doubt they will start off with the top tier cards. They'll probably introduce the 850/860s or something (or what ever their mid-range cards would be named this time around), as there is no point for them to bring down the competitiveness of their current top tier cards this soon.

Cheers,

Linus

580 performs about the same as a 670. 680 performs about the same as 770 (for obvious reasons)

thats not really true. My 780 outperforms the 590 which is dual 580.

if you can wait, sure, why not. If you already own a 6 or 7 series card wait for the real maxwell.

Do we have a solid release date set? All I've heard is "1st quarter 2014", which could mean any time between now and the end of March.. I'm not waiting to March..

Realistically, the 800 series probably isn't going to be *that* much faster than 700 series, so if you're building now, it seems best to just buy what's available now instead of holding off your build for a while..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

670 is about 7%-13% faster than the 580 if memory serves. That is a difference, but it isnt monumental.

my 660ti is fatser than a 580.

For the same reason people will buy Maxwell when what ever is after that (lets call it N) will be out after that and it will be much better, then the same for buying N when M will be out the year after that. I mean if you need it now you can't buy what isn't available.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

lol wut, my anadtech link show completly differetn results. ^^

Yeah I'm not sure lol

I think the difference is due to driver optimizations. The 580 beats the 660 in 2012 but the 660 beats the 580 in 2013. Over time the 660 matures and slowly starts to edge ahead of the 580.
