Close to wrapping up the parts needed for a computer 1st build for my son, daughter and I.  Using it for video editing mainly but will also play games mainly BF4. Using GoPro Black 3+, Canon 70D for photography and video. Looking for the highest resolution video. Currently using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CS for photos and Pinnacle 17 Ultimate and Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 for Video.  Trying to keep the build under $3000.  In the future I will add 2 or 3 additional hard drives and maybe another 780GPU

Couple of questions:

1.  Is the G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory a good choice for the build?

2.  In this build I have Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1.  Question is can I move to the Windows 8.1 Pro Platform without loosing any functionality.

Damn...that is expensive. But very nice.

Not sure if you need two seperate hard drives on being 1Tb and the other 3Tb U_u

Kinda also suprised no SSD RAID 0.

Alot of pointless stuff here,

1) that CPU

2)that motherboard

3)32gb of RAM

all very costly and not needed, drop down to a non-extreme I7 and save yourself loads of money (probs enough to get two 780's now)

Quack 🦆

So here you go :) Still some "over the topness" here and there, but that is for quality, durability and longevity reasons :)

its is for video editing first, so it is actually not a bad choice.

For the first question, i think you will gain performance in some video editing from 32Gb of ram.

for the second one, i'm not sure.

Kinda also suprised no SSD RAID 0.

No point in ssd's in raid 0.

Regarding the build:

It's more expensive than it needs to be. The psu is also overkill--a good 750w is plenty as is.

Windows 8.1 Pro would work just fine but there's no point in getting Windows 8.1 Pro over the regular 8.1 which would do the same job.

Why such an expensive mobo?

...What I recommended in your previous thread was pretty much just as good and cheaper: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2fOYW

This should also be in New Builds and Planning, not the cpu/mobo section.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

That 6core cpu won't be that of an upgrade in comparison to the 4770K. 1) the cpu itself is cheaper. 2) Socket 1150 platform is a bit cheaper too.
I do video editing / motion design myself and you won't regret the 32gb though ;-) .
