I'm building a computer when all the parts arrive.

This is my first time building a computer and I've seen tons of people do it, I was wondering if there's anything I need to know before I build it

so i don't mess up?

Thank you

Read the manuals and be patient. Also spend some time thinking how you're going to route the cables so it won't look like a mess.

Can I ask but why have you chosen to go with 12Gb of RAM vs say 16Gb or 8Gb? It will operate slightly differently :S nevermind me :(

Is the budget $1500 dollars? I'm very surprised I'm very sure you could squeeze maybe a bit more graphic power.

You chose the wrong ram. You need 2 sticks to take advantage of dual channel memory. And why win 7 over 8? Whats wrong with the built in networking? You don't need that intel nic

That RAM is all wrong, it needs to be in sets of 2 or you loose lots of performance, Also, get rid of the sound card, they are placebos and in most cases actually reduce sound quality. PSU's a bit borderline too.

I would go with 7 over 8 though i agree why have you got that nic? and why have you got a sound card? and why have you got 3 sticks of ram when your motherboard does dual channel?

If its still possible to cancel your order DO SO and make a topic on here asking for advice on how to improve it because you are throwing money away in places and this build will not run as well as it potentially could.

Great news! Just honestly take your time and enjoy it. Don't force things and if you aren't sure on something, check it online or ask someone before you do it! It's not as hard as you may think.

The PSU might be a bit weak though imo and about the RAM I would just use the two sticks.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

Games perform better in windows 8. Especially games like bf4, 25+ fps going from win 7 to 8.

...'lots of performance'

Show me your source. I haven't noticed any difference between single and dual channel for most scenarios.

@anko Is it too late to cancel the order? The build is wonky and the pcie cards are unnecessary. The ram also won't fit under the heatsink and getting lower profile ram would be better. The psu is on the tight side and I'd recommend a better 500w psu since the one you chose doens't even have an 80 plus rating.

You should also get an IPS panel instead.
