Would this still be good to get for my upgrade?

Thorinox

Hello everyone again, a bit of a break from my last thread but now with the possibility of a now getting the parts by the beginning of next month. Iv been tinkering on upgrading my computer, as far as I understand, the motherboard,CPU/ram is just very outdated. Im also not looking to make a balls to the wall computer either, no need for it. Just some good gaming and streaming, I have a Geforce GTX 1050 which is just fine for me.
I have a:
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD (fx)-6300 6 Core Processor
Kingston Value RAM 4GB 1600MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM SR x8 Destop Memory

With that being said. I was told/thinking of something like a:
GIGABYTE GA-AB350-Gaming 3
AMD Ryzen 5 1600/1600x (not sure what the difference is)
HyperX Predator 16GB Ram (not sure what the max MHz that would work with the MB/CPU)

Sounds like a decent build for gaming and streaming, im a intel fan boy really so idk too much about the ryzen mobos, but concerning the cpu this is a quick summary "Like the Ryzen 5 1600 the 1600X features 6 cores and 12 threads, but has roughly 11% higher clock speeds (out of the box) for a 14% premium. Like all Ryzen CPUs the 1600X is unlocked. The 1600X is the only Ryzen 5 CPU with a TDP of 95W, the 1600, 1500X and 1400 all have 50% lower power consumption of 65W."
and from everthing i've heard about ryzen you need to choose memory carefully. I would get https://www.pccasegear.com/products/38946/g-skill-flare-x-f4-3200c14d-16gfx-16gb-2x8gb-ryzen-ddr4. is fast speed any faster start getting diminishing returns from $$$ also decent timings and made to work with ryzen so it should work premo

What are the rest of the specs of your specs? Budget for upgrade?

If there's a big enough price difference (for me ~$30) don't get the X version of Ryzen processors. They're the same as the non-X except they come higher clocked out of the box. Also the X variants of 1st gen Ryzen don't come with coolers so that's another $30-$40 to account for.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

That Ram is way more then I was looking forward to getting. I was looking more at:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BJJMWXW/?coliid=I3BRIY1SNIXCJR&colid=B4MWBRZOU2PB&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
or a set of these... Not sure on the MHz

Edit:
Found your ram you mentioned for almost $100 cheaper on amazon

I pretty much have everything else I need, 1TB SSD boot drive/4TB storage drive, Geforce GTX 1050 and between X or no X is about $15/20 difference.

if anything, spend that $15-20 on the motherboard instead. MSI's B450 boards for example. Gigabyte's budget (not cheapest) stuff are one of the worst when it comes to overclocking.

Why not go for 2nd gen Ryzen? Or you can save like 10 bucks and go for the 1600.

You could do that. I would suggest the MSI still. Just make sure you are using 1st gen Ryzen or make sure the board can run 2nd Ryzen because some boards don't run it out of the box without a BIOS update.
