local network bandwidth testing tool

wojtepanik

I work with IP cameras, I need to test local network if the can support all cameras connected at once and diagnose if it is the network to cause lagging with cameras, what is the best way to do that ? I don't mean manually pinging with big packet sizes :D
Thanks!

This won't work as IPCameras don't support IPerf3.

What IPcamrea's do you have? You should check cameras setting if you are seeing drop frames.

He's wanting to test the network itself, not the cameras. If the network itself is performing fine, the problem (if there is one) will likely lie with the camera or the media/host that the cameras are recording to.

Transfer a really large file over it?

Unless they are some super duper killer cameras, or the network is total garbage, I doubt that's the issue.

the network on the other side of the world, I have to deal with not really advanced client remotly, he doesn't know anything, I just got 50% udp packet loss on it

What switch does he have? Switches these days even cheaps ones don't have this much packet drops. He should look into replacing it.

I need more information such as actual gear name (model number) and basic network topology.
