so i have a 2x8gb setup on my asus prim x370 pro mobo, and i'm wondering if i should get another set of 2x8gb of what i have to make 32gb or if it would be better to get a 2x16gb setup. the price difference seems to be that the 2x16gb is about $50-75 more than getting another 2x8gb set

just get another 2x8gb set. Their difference will mostly be difficulty in upgrading to 64GB and overclocking past 3466MHz (the more sticks you have, the more difficult it will be to overclock), but apart from that there's no difference between a 2x16gb and 4x8gb setup.

Well of course it would be "better" to get a 2x16GB setup unless your running all matching 8GB sticks. Does it make a big enough difference to justify the $50-75 premium? Depends on who you ask. I rather spend that money on a good night out. Whereas purists will be burning your house down if you go for another 2x8GB.

Since the total ram allowed is 64, then the only thing really limiting your choice is your budget.

i have my ram clocked to 3200MHz, so i guess another matching set is what i'll do. i read a bunch of older posts on this and other sites from years ago saying that 2x16gb is better than 4x8gb since either way it'll be dual channel. i never really pushed the oc on ram before, it never seemed like a bottleneck for speed. but i have noticed that my ram usage goes crazy high and will max out sometimes when i play a few of my games, and i do want to get into streaming with friends so more won't hurt.
