Hi, I'm about to upgrade an old pc by putting a 2400g ryzen 5 with 8 gb ram (1.35v or 1.30v depending on pricing) and a gigabyte b450m ds3h mobo. I have an old power supply laying in the house with 300W rated(put some pictures too cause I might be wrong). TheI question is: cand this power supply hold the wholr pc with a wd caviar blue 250 hdd and 1-3 small fans for the case.

300W should just about do it. but i looks like a super cheap and shitty PSU. So I wouldn't trust it.

Should be okay wattage wise but as above that's a super low quality unit and would be better off as replaced.

Also make sure you roll two ram sticks for dual channel as the igpu is pretty sensitive to memory bandwidth.

As already stated - that's a generic PSU.  I wouldn't trust it either, not for the price of a replacement and the piece of mind it would bring.

That was a good PSU back in 2003 when it was released.

That was designed for Pentium 4 and Athlon XP when the 3.3V/5V was more used rather than 12V which is used much more today.

It has enough wattage but I would bet it will expel blue smoke when you plug it in.

i dont have the money to spend on a quality source yet

Then wait until you do, honestly.

PSUs are known to take other components with them when they die, it's not worth the risk of getting a crap unit just to have a working PC unless you really need the system.

What power supply do you have in the current system, as you said this one was lying around the house / spare?

You can use this one, but I wouldn't use it for long, like few months till you can afford decent unit, something 40-50 dollars, 500W.

CPU: i7 3770K | MB: EVGA Z77 FTW | RAM: HyperX Savage 2400Mhz 16GB | GPU: R9 280X Toxic | Cooler: Scythe Fuma | PSU: CoolerMaster B600

SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB - Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB

the source on the system i'm actually using is a fujitsu 250W. I got this system cheap for the decent procesor like 1-2 years ago and added a radeon hd 6700 series graphics card that i got from my brother. for the gpu im using this fsp 300W source. the fsp source just sits on my desk and i have to power it before powering the system.

Again this source will only be used until i buy a gpu and actually need a better source. but since you all say it is trash(not denying it) i'll look for a second hand one that i'll buy and use until summer/mid summer. i'll come back in like max 15 min with all the sources i could find for cheap money.

No because its 15 Years or so old and not designed for modern components, with that old PSU you can destroy your Hardware.

You should get a new one.

Where do you live? What's available??

A be quiet System Power 9 or (depending on the Price); Pure Power 10 with 400W and more is a good idea.

You destroy your PC with a shitty, too old PSU that is not designed for modern components and also is highly likely to already have swollen caps, thus very high ripple and did I say that it is highly unlikely that it will not damage the rest of your components???

Does it even have A CPU Connector??

When you live in Europe or so, you could sell the PSU and advertize it as a PSU for old ATX Systems like Socket 7/370 as well as Socket A and Slot 1 and A. Because PSU with -5V Rail that are still working are sought after by some people who like using old Hardware.

I'd say you'd be able to get like 15-20€ for this unit because of that...

But you must NOT use it with a device that mostly uses +12V instead of the +5V rail this unit is made for!!

Again, that unit is made for high +5V Load and light +12V Load!
Today you have light load on +5V and high load on +12V!

Alright, here's what i could find on trusted second hand websites: 350W FSP FSP350-60HHN(85)

300W FSP FSP300-60HHN(85)

DELUX ATX-450W P4

Delta Z350-08FC ATX 350W, Full ATX, 4 S-ATA

Delux P4 de 450W

FSP Group 300W ATX-300PNR, 1x SATA, 4x Molex, Vent.120mm, PFC

FSP 350W FSP350-60EPN(80) PFC Activ, certification 80+ Bronze

300W Delta Electronics, GPS-300AB, 2 x SATA, 2 x Molex, Vent 120mm

Inter-Tech SL-500C, 500 W, 80 mm, ATX, Bulk

Those were the second hand ones and might be too old for moders components. So here is a list of new psu:

Floston FL400

Inter-tech SL-500C 500W

segotep atx 500W

Floston FL450

400W bulk ACTIV 7

Spacer SPS-ATX-450 450W

I cant thank you all enought for warning me about the danger of and old PSU and hope i dont bother you too much with this topic.

Well i live in Europe, Romania, a pretty bad developed country so i dont think anyone would actually buy an old PSU. I mean you cant just find such on trusted websites, dont see the risk of buying it from a stranger. But sure, I'll try to sell it anyway, worth the time.

I wouldn't plug that PSU into anything that has any value let alone new hardware.

Ryzen 2600 - Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 - Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 3000 C15 2x8GB - Corsair Force MP500 NVMe PCIe M.2 240GB - 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB -

AsRock B450 PRO4 - Deepcool Earlkase Case -  Seasonic Foucus+ 650
