Is it worth to upgrade from i56400 to i38100

I have a gtx 1060 3gb and I've noticed that it gets bottlenecked by my i56400 while playing games like GTA v and bf 1 should I upgrade to i38100

Agreed, max out your platform instead of upgrading to a new one. You can get good used prices online for old i7s

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

i3 8100 pretty much the same cpu as i5 6400, same core count, same tdp.

But higher base clock, so it would perform better.

But moving to an 8th gen must change motherboard which is a hassle.

If you can overclock the i5 to 3.6 then you have the same cpu.

i5 6400 cant be overclocked unless he has an asrock z170 board with a custom bios flashed to enable the blck overclocking on non k processors
