Help with Outlet Internet/Phone Jack?.. [Help!]

Hello!

So, Ive currently moved into my Sisters old room, due to it being bigger then my old room. I have found that there was a black outlet cover in the room.. So I disided to remove the cover and see what was behind it. 

 

It would seem it is some kind of Ethernet cable... The only thing is, We never had our house with running Ethernet all around.. The only thing I can think it is, a long time ago, when you use to have to have Home Phones ran with theses kinda plugs I am guessing that is what it is? 

 

Also, It would be cool to use Ethernet.. But I dont think it makes that big of a difference we are paying for 150 downlaod and on 5G I get 200 download at my computer.. But yeah anyone know what kidna plug it is?

If you posted it from your PC it's because your PC recognizes the file and produces the image, our computers however do not have the file =]

 

Damn that's a relic. Looks like where the phone cord went it, yup. Maybe someone else knows more

That's an rj50 connector and phone cable.

 

Ethernet usually has 8 wires (4 color pairs)

Thats for phone and it looks like the cable is CAT3. You need Cat 5e or greater for 1 Gbps Ethernet. If you can figure out where that line goes, you might be able to tie an Ethernet cable to it and pull it thru, but the other end would need to be connected to the router some how.
