Weird behavior with iFunny App

Whenever I use the iFunny app on my phone, my phone gets unusually warm. Like sometimes uncomfortably warm, and drains my battery. It's only a meme app, so nothing intense is going on. I used to think it was because I had an older phone and it just showing it's age, but i got a brand new one and it's still the same story.

 

Either the app is horribly optimized or could it be that it's doing some cryptomining in the background? Both seem unlikely because it's a rather popular app.

 

I just wanted to see if you guys had any insight on it.

As far as I can tell, it's pretty poorly optimized, especially with videos. I think it caches everything you've viewed in each session, at least for a while.

Nailed it. It also uses an assload of data, the servers are just trash and the app uses too many resources.

Yeah, I got another meme app that has better memes and some rather dark ones. The other app has no issues though when it comes to my phone.
