2990wx Best Ram setup.

I have look and my brain hurts. From what I can tell from some threads is that I need all 8 dims full but can’t find an answer for speed or cas/cl.

 

i could really us just a simple answer. 

 

Being used for rendering in 3Ds Max V-Ray, point cloud registration and point cloud alga-rhythmic decemation (automated redundant point reduction).

3200 MHz CL14 is B-Die RAM, which might help with RAM compatibility and would also probably OC higher if you want to go down that route.

I haven't seen anyone successfully get higher than 3200MHz with 4+ sticks of RAM in a Ryzen or Threadripper system so I would only suggest a low CAS b-die kit for it's tighter timings and not for the hope of higher speeds.

On ryzen it would be difficult because you'd be running 2 dimms/channel. I'd guess it would be more doable on TR due to it being quad channel. Either way though going past 3200 even on ryzen 2 is quite difficult
