Getting more serious about buying a used GPU, how much should I pay used?

I have a 1440p 144hz monitor

play overwatch, fornite, civ 6, rocket league, Assassins creed black flag, etc

 which GPU should I buy, I care about my current desires and re-sale value. I would go for used hardware whenever possible, USA.
How much should I pay, for example, for a EVGA 1070 ti, 1080, 1080 ti used?

Back in 2013 I bought a used HD 7870 for $170 and it still works today. That card was $350 at release and had been out for about a year, so I got a pretty damn good deal on it. That said, 2013 was a different time and buying used is more risky these days due to Bitcoin miners selling their worn out cards. If possible, look for refurbished cards on Newegg and Amazon. I bought a refurb MSI Armor 1080 for $365 not too long ago. Incredible deal.

I paid 620 for my hybrid 1080 ti

I did the same with the 780 ti and the 980 ti

Each were ~350 when the newer model was released.
