Why don't they make CPUs bigger

This may be a stupid question but why don't they make CPUs bigger to fit more transistor?

Law of diminishing returns, power efficiency and the design of the processor.  It's been smaller than a coaster ever since the first computers came out because the bigger the processor, the bigger everything else must be.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

Costs really. With higher die size price increases as well. Based on process, defect rate etc. that increase could be exponential.

And we have bigger CPUs by the way.  AMD ryzen, threadripper and epyc are bigger CPUs compared to intel ones. Though they are made out of more than one die, not a single one.

Because the bigger the die, the bigger chance is that its faulty so it costs a LOT more

As said above, the answer is that they do, they are just intended more for high-end use so have their own motherboards and cost a fortune.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

As well as the above reasons, I'd expect stock coolers (hell, coolers in general) would have to be bigger and better (as well as costlier) to make up for the increase.
