$US 750 budget gaming build

Hey guys, I've decided to finally build my own budget rig ($750 +-$25) for "school" stuff etc. Obviously I'm going to play a lot of games on this computer.

------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Budget and location

$US 750 +-$25

International shipping to the Czech Republic

2. Aim

Gaming PC

Insurgency/Insurgency Sandstorm, Subnautica, The Long Dark and some older games

3. Monitors

Don't have any at the moment.

Looking for a single monitor setup.

1920x1080.

4. Peripherals

Already have: gaming mouse, keyboard, headset

Need: 1920x1080 monitor, windows 10 home

5. Why are you upgrading

Building a new pc

------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: current modifications here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8YcFYT

Cost: $US 760

Feel free to suggest anything reasonable

and to rate/improve this set up.

EDIT #2: Moved this post to this section since it didn't really belong in the previous one after some while.

------------------------------------------------------------------

It is most likely that I'll buy a GTX 1060 3gb. But I haven't decided which CPU would be better. I spend last couple of hours looking in benchmarks and came across a comparison of the i3-8300 and Ryzen 5 1600/1600x.

I'd be glad if you could tell me which one suits "better" for the GTX 1060.

I wouldn't say, that I'm experienced in building computers so that's why I'm asking you.

Ryzen 2600, same price as the 1600X but bit better in single-thread performance

if you go with this you need a 400 series board from AMD though.

That's not even true, can we stop trolling OP now?

the I3 will have faster single-threaded performance which will make it better in gaming, but the ryzen 5 is not bad at gaming, and it's better if productivity or other multitasking like live streaming or running things in the background while playing a game

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

True, but I'd still go with Ryzen, it's better value. It has more cores, more threads and it's also unlocked

No, pls be precise and don't forget half the things.

What he needs is either a 400 Series Board or someone who could do a BIOS Update with a 300 Series. Because they all support 2000 series with a BIOS Update.

I agree with that.

That's what we are here for :)

What are the other COmponents?
Do you have some good memory?
Good quality PSU?

I don't think it's the most optimal setup so if you have any better ideas or would like to swap out some things feel free to let me know.

edit: Just realized i dont have a cpu cooler, lol

Right now i've got an ASUS Prime x370 PRO running a Ryzen 5 1600 with no overclock and it's running peachy.
Like the guys say, you could go for the 2600, it's a hell of a nice price/performance combo.

But if gaming is the goal here... shouldn't he consider getting something like mine (or maybe a different MoBO if he's not going to go with multiple gpus) and spend a few extra bucks on the Graphics card?

look for a corsair CX/vengeance, coolermaster masterwatt or be quiet pure power 10 instead of that PSU.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Totally get a different PSU, you might want to save a bit on the memory. 2933 and 3000 is a lot cheaper, that money you could invest in a better PSU like Bitfenix Formula, Cougar GX-F.

450 or 550W, depending on what's cheaper or so. Sadly the difference is like5€ or so.

the i3 will quickly start bottlenecking when he upgrades the 1060 for something better, he's better off with the 1600/2600.

yes i should have said if you want your CPU to work without having to search around for a 1st gen ryzen chip to upgrade the bios prior to having your system to even post.

it just make sense to recommend them a 400 board instead since that way you don't risk briking the board if bios update fail and it make sure they have no issues or surprises upon receiving the parts...

Changed the PSU to 550W 80+ gold and memory to 2x8 gb 3000

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2tXFYT

for the GPU you might want to look at a RX470/570, if possible 8GiB or 580.

3GiB isn't enough for higher quality textures, 4GiB is the minimum, better 8.

That looks like a great rig, I have an R7 2700X with 16GB 3000MHz RAM and it's great, the R5 2600 should be basically the same in most games. All the other hardware choices are pretty solid too, though maybe you could save some cash by getting a Corsair CX (2017) or CXM unit and use the money for a slightly better SSD. Other than that, not  much I'd recommend changing.

I'm a bit worried about the heat that the CX or CXM will produce. Perhaps i could spend a bit more money on a better SSD

I have a CX and CXM units in two of my PCs and I haven't noticed them producing any more heat than the GPU and CPU.
