The VRM will be worse, because they cannot fit a good VRM on the board (that said, most boards under $150 have the same low end VRM).

 

You will have less expansion slots, less sata ports, less M.2 slots, less RAM slots, less USB ports...

 

Preformance wise, it should be similar.

To be fair, depending on the board you get, you might have the same number of M.2 and USB ports, and perhaps even SATA (never really bother looking as I don't use more than one or two drives).
