So, I currently have an iPhone 5c, which is starting to slow down and have some battery issues. I am looking to upgrade to a "new" phone within the near future. While I would love to have one of the new iPhone's that were just announced, I simply cannot afford them (I would have to buy them outright since I use a prepaid carrier - Tracfone). Right now I have narrowed my search to three phones:

An open box iPhone 6s 32gb for around $195

A refurbished (good/very good condition) Google pixel 2016 128gb for about $185 or a 32gb model that's mint condition for $189

A refurbished iPhone SE 64gb for about $150

Is there any phone out of this list (or not included, but is under $200) that you would prefer? I am leaning towards the 6s. The only thing that I am worried that might be an issue is the description says it was a Verizon phone that was unlocked for use on other carriers. As far as I know, Tracfone (my carrier) will accept Verizon phones, but if you have any experience with this that would be helpful.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I use an iPhone 6s every day and I can strongly recommend that. My buddy uses an SE and it seems really awesome as well. Actually, this reminds me of a 91tech video. I'm gonna go get that.

The iPhone 6s is a real beast with iOS 12. It’s legit a 2018 mid ranger now thanks to it.

The 6s should be supported for another 2 years for sure and maybe 3 years if we are lucky. The precedent is 6 generations of support and the 6s is already at year 3.

Getting a used 6s (get a Plus if you can afford it) and replacing the battery for a new one would not be a bad choice.

Care to elaborate what 'support' is and what practical effect it will have on the user?

Software updates and Servicing options both 1st and 3rd party are the two main benefits of having a device that is still supported by its manufacturer.

Pretty important stuff.

Thanks for the input. The 6s that I am looking at is open box (a company phone that was opened but not ever used), and the seller claims that the battery health shows 99%. Would I still need to replace the battery in this case?
