(linus-style segue) And speaking of backups, the dualboot is really new so I haven't even gotten around to backing up my Ubuntu partition. Is there a way I can get my crap back? There's not much there.

yes. just boot an ubuntu install usb and select "try ubuntu". then you can use the file manager to browse your ubuntu partition.

remember to copy your stuff to another usb drive, not the install usb. anything you put on the install usb will be deleted.

you could also copy your stuff to your 1tb hdd, just remembered you have that too :P
