Hey everyone. So I'm planning my first build and need help to see what parts I should use. I made a list on PC part picker which I will link below. Any advice is welcome.

Budget: $1500-$1700

Use: MMO games like ffxiv and WOW, rpg games and things like destiny and overwatch. Illustration in programs such as paint tool sai and photoshop. Light video editing. If it could handle zbrush or be upgraded in the future to handle 3d modeling that would be perfect.

I will also use it for word and excel.

I'm brand new to building so it is all a little overwhelming but let me know what you think!

Thank you!

Here's what I have as of now.

Here is a Ryzen build (picking AMD, so unlike me lol). I changed a few things out, also added a 1TB HDD for extra storage and fit in a GTX 1060. I would encourage you to look at kinguin.net for windows 10 keys, as they are usually $25-30. (grey market, I know).

I also switched the monitor out, because if you're doing any type of image or video editing, you will want an IPS panel, which is much more true to colors than the TN panel you had selected. At $100, it won't be perfect, but like I said, much better.

Make sure you do one thing no matter what: enjoy it! Building my first computer was a lot of fun. Hope yours is too.

My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q

Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti

Don't buy Norton Security. Windows Defender is free and quite good.

Consider going with a locked cpu. It lowers some costs while providing very similar performance to an unlocked cpu. I'd suggest something like an i5-8500. It is a much better match for a lower-end gpu than an i7. Doing this frees up budget for a better gpu.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
