Is upgrading from Ryzen 5 1500x to 2600 worth it?

Xyren

I currently have a Ryzen 5 1500x CPU, which I use for gaming and video encoding (mostly handbrake). Would upgrading to a Ryzen 5 2600 provide any noticable improvement for either of those uses?

For gaming, no. For video encoding, however, then yes, you will definitely see an improvement by going to a 2600.

In your case I would say yes.  There are some games that will use all 6 cores and HB and other rendering software will benefit.

Not worth the tiny jump

wait for Ryzen 3000 coming soonish

Or find a cheap used R7 8 core

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
