Headset Not Working After Nvidia Driver Installaiton

Hi, I just installed the latest 900 series of nvidia drivers and had no sound coming out of one of my headset ears, I made sure to check my playback devices and bios but nothing seems to be working so far. I did re-plug it and it worked for a few moments then it went back into being broken, windows did not find any updates for the driver (it uses the default windows ones (no available drivers for it as far as I am aware).

Any idea on how to fix that?

My system resets to sending sound to my monitor instead of optical out whenever NVIDIA updates.

I would just go to Sound / Playback (which it sounds like you did?) and set Headset Earphone as default.

Did you try both front io and rear io headphone jacks, assuming you're using a 1/8" jack and not USB?

it doesnt use jacks only usb

No alternative port works.

In Power Options do you have USB selective suspend setting disabled?

 

Have you tried other USB ports, other than the one beside the one you just used?

Oh, you have Realtek onboard audio.

Have you gone to the Realtek setup app to designate your output?

I do not have that

One more clue, on "test" it shows the volume bar going up but I cant hear it.

It can be downloaded from your MB manufacturers support site.

I would recommend installing it.

Actually, they have an outdated version, they no longer support that oem build.

Plus the headset itself does not use realtek... check the devices... its a generic driver for some reason...

Get the outdated version, bad isn't worse than nothing (most of the time)

it does not work, it gets me in a loop of installing, restarting, installing, restarting, installing and restarting.
