Buy GTX 1080 ti or wait for RTX 2080

I am shoping parts for a pc. Got the i7 limited edition(i know its just a cherry picked 8700k), and ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X HERO WIFI AC motherboard. I have everything figured out exept i am in a dilemma about wheter to order the EVGA 1080 TI sc or wait for a version of the RTX 2080. Would it provide any benefit(apparently it has less cuda cores than the 1080 ti) and how long before EVGA or MSI or ASUS etc. makes better versions like acx or sc version.

Why buy anything days before all new parts release?  Wait until the 9900K or whatever it is launches as well as the Turing cards.  This is probably the worst month to buy anything.

What resolution do you wanna game on and which games do you like playing?

If you play games that won't use Ray tracing then there is no use in getting an RTX2080 over a GTX1080ti.

Wait for benchmarks after the 20 series is released, your not going to have to wait long at all.

 

If they turn out to be anything like the most recent leaked info on performance we have, then the 2080 is efectivly going to be the same as a 1080ti with an OC. So unless you want to use the 20 series new features which wont be on many games anyway, i'd get a 1080ti.

 

The 2080ti is another story however, it will be a sizable upgrade from a 1080ti, the big problem however is its price, being 2x as expensive as a 1080ti you could simply get 2x 1080ti's and have better performance than a single 2080ti in games that support SLI.

 

if you just cant wait a few weeks, get a 1080ti, if you can..then wait for the benchmarks..ur still likely going to go for a 1080ti... but u never know.

there was a leak somewhere on youtube where the 2080 outperformed the 1080ti  but it could have been fake so i say wait till benchmarks come out
