Will my cpu bottleneck the 1070

I mostly game and i was planning to update my gpu to play at 144hz 1080p will the ryzen 1300x bottleneck the 1070, i was going to upgrade to the r5 1600 later but currently i dont have the money

Welcome to the LTT forum!

 

There will a slight bottleneck at that resolution and framerate target, but it's not that severe, and will be remedied with the 1600.

oh, no, the witcher 3 will murder you cpu. That will not be a fun time. It is one of the most cpu intensive games rn

In that case, I think you're ok holding out a little bit longer until you get a 1600.

it'll bottleneck heavily at 144hz depending on what you play, mostly AAA titles but not esport games.

Yes it will bottleneck it in almost all games. When I went from my 780ti to my 1080 at 1440p on my 3570k @ 4.4ghz (which is faster than the 1300x is) I noticed a literal 0% performance increase in some titles like Fallout 4. Many times experienced a decent uplift, but that was often accompanied with stutter that rendered the game unplayable (which is what happened in Gears of War 4).
