How much should i spend on a case if my budget for the whole system is $800

Indominus-Rex

I'm not sure if i should just cheap out and go with a $50 case (coolermaster masterbox lite 5 rgb) or spend abit more at around $80 for a decent quality case.

Here are my parts selection so far

CPU: R5 2600

MOBO: MSI B350 GAMING PRO CARBON

HDD: WD 1TB

RAM: 8GB 3200MHz (used)

GPU: GTX 1060

PSU: EVGA 500W

P.S. don't tell me to just get the Meshify C because that costs $105 in my country and i don't quite like how it looks.

Spend however much you really feel you want and/or need to spend on the case. What suits your needs? What suits your visual preference? All that jazz.

If you're fine with the MasterBox case, more power to you! Money saved or money put towards, say, an SSD if they're cheap enough.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

Get a case with a mesh front like the Fractal Focus G, or Masterbox 5 (Black)

that masterbox Rgb case has no airflow and your components will run hot.

also check if an RX 570 is way cheaper, or an RX 580 is equal in price, as AMD gets you free-sync savings whenever you upgrade your monitor.

If that's the EVGA 500W 80 plus unit it's pretty low end and not exactly recommended.

What budget/country?

That motherboard may need a bios update for the 2000 series chip, unless it has USB bios flashing. Should check for the ASrock Pro 4 B450 or MSI Tomahawk B450, will be fine, should be cheaper.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Cougar MX330. It's cheap and good.

Anyway y ou can spend as little or as much as you want.

It's your own pc, even if you spend cheap on case, as long as you like it, it's yours to look at and own.

Those 2 cases look ok but I'm really looking for one with a tempered glass side panel as acrylic scratches really easily.

About the gpu, i haven't actually decided yet whether to go with amd or nvidia but i would prefer amd because i currently have a freesync monitor but the caveat is that RX 480/580s aren't on sale for msrp for now and my budget for a gpu is only 300 dollars.

Im not really concerned about the powersupply for now since ill be upgrading soon.

Budget for the whole system is about 800 give or take and i live in malaysia so prices might be inflated a bit.

Thing is, I've already bought the motherboard so no going back now and upon purchasing the mobo i requested a bios update so should be fine. Also, those two boards that you recommended are around the same price as the one I've bought (MSI one is slightly more expensive) and personally i think the b350 msi board looks the best so thats why i went with that.

Then look for another coolermaster case with a TG side panel and mesh front? Or really any case with that.

That MSI board is fine and likely better than the others. Strange that it's the same price, maybe because it's B350 I guess.

How about this case guys? Costs $62.5 and has somewhat of a mesh front panel. Also i wanted to ask that if the temperature delta between a case with a mesh front panel and a case with a closed off front panel is significant and something that I'd have to worry about.

Guys, i think I've found my case. Its the Tecware M1 TG and it only costs $45. Imo it looks great, has a mesh front panel and a tempered glass panel with one fan included so i might have to add a few more down the road but at $45 its hard to argue. Only available locally here in malaysia though.

Are you sure you want to use an mATX case with an ATX board?

Will not fit for sure.
