I just started to build my very first computer. Due to limited space it is going to be used as a Console killer/ media center connected to my tv

I have just finished the initial assembly and did the recomended test on the box. the board powers on and does not send anything to my tv.

-I am aware that b350 doesn't support Ryzen 2 without a Bios update and im pretty sure that is my issue, but want a second opinion before i have to go out and pay for someone to update

-The board has an EZ debug led which is showing a VGA error. I have tried re-seating the GPU and it has made no difference.

- I have also heard that some TVs will not show a bios post could this be the issue?

I am using

Ryzen 2600

MSI Mortar B350

MSI Gaming X 1060 6G

I'd say the issue is pretty much 98% that you need the BIOS update. You could double check that RAM might not be seated correctly, but I'm almost positive that your issue is the BIOS version your board is on.

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

yeah, you'll need to get that UEFI/BIOS reflash (unless the box has the 2000 ready sticker on the front).

a couple of ways to get this done:

Thanks Guys.

There is definitely no sticker for Ryzen 2000 ready. I contacted the store that I ordered it from before I started the build and they said it would be fine.... obviously didn't know what they were talking about. Now just hoping my the only computer store in my area will do it. Its a small town shop that could easily put out that I didn't buy anything through them
