Hello

So I've decided to build my first pc and I have questions about few things.

First question is if should get a better Motherboard or a better CPU.

These are my options.

Intel I5-8400 with Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

or

Intel I5-8600K with Gigabyte - Z370P D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

or

Intel I5-8600 with MSI - Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard.

The other question is whether I should get a SSD and use my Laptops HDD or drop the SSD and get a new HDD.

The other Specs are listed below;

SSD: Toshiba - OCZ TR200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Pure Rock Slim 35.1 CFM CPU Cooler

Memory :Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

Graphics Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Dual Video Card

PSU: Corsair - VS 550W ATX Power Supply

i5 8400 if you can get a better gpu, but if you can't then the 8600k.

you might wanna get a better cooler if you plan to overclock the 8600k.

I may be wrong.

What kind of budget PSU would you recommend?

I would get the Corsair CX450 or CX550.

Motherboard and CPU. if your getting a K CPU , you should get a Z motherboard. For Overclocking. If you nto going to overclock, get a Non K CPU and a non Z motherboard saves money.

As for SSD, get one, you wont be able to go back to HDD after using one though :P they are that much faster.

CPU: Intel i7 3930k w/OC & EK Supremacy EVO Block | Motherboard: Asus P9x79 Pro  | RAM: G.Skill 4x4 1866 CL9 | PSU: Seasonic Platinum 1000w Corsair RM 750w Gold (2021)|

I see, well my case is going to be Corsair - SPEC-ALPHA (Black/Yellow) ATX Mid Tower Case.

i have an i5 8400 and a hyper 212x in my define c mini from fractal.

it was my first pc built but the installation is PAIN! SO BAD took my almost an hour wasted so thermal paste.

i'd sheel the extra money on a nh-u12s the secu-firm2 is SO easy to install and has some of the best performance.

althought the arctic freezer esports 313 seems to get alot of praise

I may be wrong.

One more thing if I am already getting a CPU cooler I wouldn't need the stock cooler would I?

As others have said, you could get an 8400+ cheaper mobo instead. I would also personally choose the BX500 over the TR200 though it probably won't make a big difference. As others have mentioned though, the psu isn't very good. A cx/cxm grey sticker would be better.

With the money you save on the mobo you should be able to grab a 1060 6gb instead.

The problem is the Import Fees are making the prices almost double to what they are in the US or the UK. Thats the reason I got the 1060 3GB. The difference of the price is around 200$ just to get the 6GB

Turkey, yeah the prices are ... too much.

Have you taken a look at local retailers? I just took a quick look and while they're still overpriced compared to us/UK it's not $200 to upgrade from a 3gb to a 6gb. More like $100

Intel I5-8400 with Asus - Prime Z370-A

why you choose mobo support OC while cpu is not supported ?

non K with mobo start with H

K with mobo Z or X

____

cpu Non K it came with good cooler ( not perfect ) but work great 2 year or more

cpu with K you should buy cooler

I do not know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone

the right is

Intel I5-8400 with Asus - Prime H370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

or

Intel I5-8600K with Gigabyte - Z370P D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

or

Intel I5-8600 with MSI - H370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

psu should be bronze plus or higher

i do have bronze but is non modular its not mistake but to annoying

all cable you cannot remove any cable in psu

i was trying to install new another ssd take 1 hour

Non-modular

The PSU comes with ALL possible cables attached to it, ready to go.

This has the advantage of ensuring you're not going to need a cable.

The downside is that it's VERY messy for cable-management. Trying to find a place for all the excess cables can be a nightmare. Bad cable-management can mean the difference between good or bad airflow and consequently the operating temperature of your system

______

Semi-modular

Only the essential cables come pre-attached. Usually this means, 24Pin ATX, a single PCIe, 8Pin CPU, and maybe one or two peripheral power cables (SATA/Molex). There's less clutter and it
is definitely much better than non-modular and a cheaper solution than going full modular.

Full Modular

Comes with no cables pre-attached. You only attach the ones you need.

It is more expensive, but also gives you more options, allowing you to only install the cables you need and keep airflow and cable management to a maximum. All newer generation HALE PSUs are fully modular.

I do not know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone

with that cooler cpu combo i wouldnt expect an oc over 4.9ghz, and if that's the case then the 2700x is a better deal, just use the stock cooler, unless you don't want to go amd, then forget what i just said.

I've done 3 builds this gen and the 8600k is the only cpu i cannot recommend in the 250-350 price range due to a lack of hyperthreading. the 8700 is only 30dollars more and will work fine with a cheap cooler.

Get ddr3000 on the ram for 10dollars more

Try to spend a little extra for a 1060 6gb instead, or see if you can find a used 970 to save some money over the 1060 3gb, or an rx 580 over the 1060 3gb.
