I picked up a xeon x5550@ 3.5ghz+( once i get a better cooler), an asus p6t ws pro mb, and 12gb Gskill ddr3. I would like to know if its worth it to pull my gaming pc apart to put my gpu psu and storage into the xeon system.

Right now in my gaming pc i hade fx 8350 @ stock, rx 460 strix gaming 4gb @ stock, 8gb crucial ddr3 and a cx650m psu... I want to start making youtube videos and i play AAA title at 60fps thanks to vsync but i think the intel platform is better overall since it shows up in windows right and is only 30cb score lower than my 8350... btw... both systems are cooled by the thermaltake contac 12

Not sure why would youpick up that old Xeon... No faster than the FX (when overclocked) in gaming.

but never mind CPU power, the RX 460 is too slow to even be bottlenecked by either CPU.

I'd recommend u one thing...

Just sell ur existing rig fr around $300-400

Then purchase an old optiplex with 3rd/4th gen i7. Pop in an RX 580, coz they go around fr about $230.

Put everything in a new case, purchase a new psu like Corsair cxm or masterwatt ND grab a cheapo 240gb SSD from 'team'.

ND u'll hv a decent gaming setup

I want to be able to overclock, so a prebuilt system is out if the question, i went with this old xeon because i had a motherboard and the cpu only cost me $30 and the 12 gb of ram in it can be used in any one of my other computers. The rx 460 is a good card for what im doing playing games like siege, bf1, cs:go, doom 2016, planetside 2, etc. I cant just sell off my current rig because i work on it sometimes as well and the xeon is going to be my gaming/ws pc. i found a couple other cpus that are 6c 12t that i might take a look at buying but for now im keeping what i have and not selling it
