Upgrading GTX 1070

Hello!

 

I´ve been wondering for a while now when the prices has been drastically lowered on graphic cards.

My current rig contains of an I7 8700K @stock, 16gb of ram (2666mhz) and a gtx 1070 rog strix non ti.

Been gaming on 1920x1080 144hz for a while but been thinking about going to 2560x1440 144hz

So my question is, will upgrading my gtx 1070 to an gtx 1080 rog strix help me contain 144+ FPS in Rainbow six siege and overwatch. (maybe some other AAA game aswell) 

Doesnt have to be the highest of the highest settings, just slightly lower than that. 

Is it possible and or even worth doing so?

possible, but not worth doing so since the performance difference isnt that big

Personally...i don't like to do an upgrade if the performance increase is less than 50%...and in this situation you're looking at a 25 to 30% increase which to me is not worth it.

1080 isn't much of an upgrade. You'd want at least 1080 ti/rtx 2080 for a substantial upgrade.

Okay so, i was looking more into prices and i actually found an gtx 1080ti for the same price as the gtx1080 strix, just a different cooler which is EVGA gtx 1080ti Black edition. Do you guys still think its worth it and will that keep up with 144 fps in 1440p?

the ti will keep up at 1440p 144hz, but certainly not max settings, medium to high
