There's no logic behind the 'Ti' suffix.

A GTX 1050Ti is the same chip as a GTX 1050, but with more memory, with more cores than the 2GB 1050 and and the same number of cores as the 3GB 1050 ( but more memory bandwidth than the 3GB, but same as the 2GB ) in both cases the cores are clocked slower on the Ti and the TDP is the same for all three.

A GTX 1070Ti is the same chip as the GTX 1070, with the same amount of memory and memory bandwidth, but with more cores enabled and with the cores clocked higher and therefore the TDP is higher.

A GTX 1080Ti is an entirely different chip than the GTX 1080 with more of everything.
