Ok guys, this is kind of a joke, but I'm really putting this together for a couple of coworkers today, yes I'm really this bored...

 

So, what is the BEST type of wire or string to run in between two tin cans? You know why.

I'm going to say one that's flexible, because it has to be able to transmit vibrations via waves easily. A stiffer wire could vibrate, but not strongly.

 

EDIT: Now that I think about it, a stiffer wire might work if it's strongly attached to the cans, because then it could cause the cans to vibrate.

The key is tension.  The line must be taut.  For this reason you do not want a line that stretches. I would recommend wire over string, but string with low or zero nylon could work.  (Carbon fiber?)
