I'm looking at motherboards to upgrade to and I was wondering if the ASUS Prime Z370-A was gonna work with both my. No. Motherboards with the 300-series chipsets only work with Coffee

Why would you need a new motherboard?

 

You'll want a Z170 or Z270 board. Those are currently on clearance as Intel released LGA1151-v2 like they do, which is the socket Z370 is for.

Current Board is quite dated and doesn't support over clocking, so my CPU is limited in the sense that I can't bring it to it's full potential. Along with I need the extra slots for Pcie on the board.

at best get z270, it will require to flash bios, but it will work with 6700k, what have you been thinking when you were getting K chip without Z board ?

It was in all ways cheaper than a normal 6700. Not buying it when I did would have just been stupid. I was going to upgrade my MB soon anyway so what does it matter to be quite honest.

it doesn't, simple question, simple answer, you can get z270 but not z370

Z270 came out after Skylake, there won't be a need for a BIOS update.
