1070ti or 1080

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

take the 1080 i'd say, more performance.

If you don't like the noise you can always downclock a bit and have it perform like a 1070 ti.

Hello, im unsure of what to do here.

I need a new graphics card and it has to be a blower style card since the open air ones don't work with my case because its too small. I can't upgrade my case since it's a prebuild case (Asus G20)

My question is should I choose the Gtx 1070 ti Founders edition or the Msi Areo gtx 1080. I've read that the MSI one is a really loud at higher temperatures, and that the quality of it isnt near the same as the quality of the Founders edtion.

Theres only a 48$ or 40 price difference. And as far as I can see online from tests theres only about a 10 fps difference between the two cards.

Take 1080. It's a shame you didn't upgrade to Pascal in 2016. For most people it makes sense  (if they have pascal) to skip Turing and buy the 7nm generation that's coming out next year, but I doubt you'll upgrade that quickly.

In any case, get the 1080. Great card.

I'm on a gtx 970 now and I would like to upgrade, but how do you know that there will come new cards next year? Wouldnt that be a bit odd since they just released the RTX cards?

In that case go for the 1080, although a used 1080 Ti might be worth considering

But is the 7nm generation really coming out as early as next year? Isn't it a bit early since turing just got launched? And if it does get released next year then the performance increase would not be that great over the turing cards right?

1080 is not expensive these days, if you want to save money 1070 would be better bet, 1070ti actually does not scale well compared to 1070
