Quick Watercooling Question

Making a custom loop for my new build. I usually just use AIOs but wanna switch to a custom loop for aesthetic purposes and good overclocking performance. Ok so my question is im purchasing the https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xres-140-revo-d5-rgb-pwm-incl-sl-pump pump/res combo is it possible to use the top as an inlet from the radiator instead of the inlet port next to the outlet port? It would make my tubing route much easier if so.

If you want to use it as an inlet port you will need an extender fitting. EK sells them somewhere I think. Might be this: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-extender-g1-4-nickel

I guess it's possible but the installation manual states it's not ment to be an inlet.

That's not what I'm saying. All you need is an extender and then you're good to go.

If you use the top port as a return, that will have to be clamped shut during the filling process as it is in the flow path. Then filling the reservoir requires a T-fitting with ball valve just above it (ugly) or using a ball valve on the intended inlet, but live with the fact that filling the reservoir will be near impossible.

What if i was to buy a multiport top https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-res-x3-top-v2-multiport and then a fill port bc i wont need all ports up top https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-af-fillport-g1-4-black would that be a better option?

Thats fine, you won't even need the fillport in my opinion since you can just open the normal plug with a allen key.

Think about it, if the port on the top is screwed in, from where would you add the liquid to fill the reservoir? in the bottom one, you can just screw open any of the 4 other openings, but if you seal all of them you will have no way to add liquid/get rid of air. This is why you shouldn't use the top port as inlet when you only have one port.
