Freesync with GTX 1060

Hi,

 

I own 2x HP 27er (60hz,8ms) 
My current monitors were cheap and are doing a good job for me, but its not for gaming at all.
So i was looking for a new 27 inch monitor with Gsync but it costs 550euro+ here and i personally think that is just way to much money.
Now i looked at Freesync monitors which are half the price or less but i cant figure out IF i have any benefit from a 144hz 1ms monitor with freesync.

I have searched on youtube but there is no clear answer for it.

Freesync works only with AMD gpus. I don't really see the point.

No benefit unless you buy an amd card in the future or nvidia ever allows this to work.  There is no downside, it will run just like a normal 144hz 1ms display.

With a 1060 a 144hz display doesn't really make much sense.

It will work without Freesync function. You can still use it like a typical 144Hz monitor

at 1440p you are probably right.  at 1080 this depends on how new the titles op is playing and the settings they are willing to compromise.  I am cheap so i usually play games that are a few years old that i can snag on sale.  My 1060 works well for this.  But a 1060 6gb is about as low as i would go for running 1080p 144hz, with the understanding any games from 2017- 2018 on i will be lowering the settings to compensate.  Also if not playing a shooter you can run normal games at half the refresh rate, game depending.

So i couldnt find any monitors without freesync that are 144hz. So if i buy a freesync monitor with 144hz 1ms, i still get the benefit of 144hz? And how does that work in reality? Does it just have a refreshrate from 60hz to 144hz depending on what i set as default in the display settings?

Yes, it will just work like a normal non-FreeSync monitor when attached to an NVIDIA card.

Thanks, for example if i put the monitor on 100hz and my game runs at 70fps without Vsync it could still cause screen tearing right? And if i turn on Vsync it will run smooth if my PC can handle the 100fps.

2. Adaptive sync (including freesync and Gsync) synchronizes the monitor's refresh cycle with the frame rate output of the graphics card automatically. In contrast, manually locking refresh rate to any number doesnt guarantee frames from the graphics card synchronizes with the monitor's refresh cycle, allowing screen tearing to happen.
