FPS drop on map/pause on GTA V

hi guys, when i pause gta to look at the map my fps drop to 7 FPS lol, why is it doing that?? scrolling around them map or trying to use any of the setting is almost impossible, even trying to exit the game is hard work!! As soon as i go back into the game it plays as normal at around 60-70 FPS, It hasnt always done this but i think i have change anything in the graphics settings, any ideas??

seems to be a problem with the rage engine. Since when you pause, everything but the menu overlay is being rendered which leads to a ridiculous fps boost. This causes the rage engine to sh*t itself and cause the stuttering. That's the only good-ish explanation I found....
