I am having issues remoting in using computer names. I have spent long enough trying to work this out but not getting a solution.

So did NSlookup to try and find the computer ip. Lets say computer 1 is the PC i want to connect to.

nslookup computer1

Result

Name: Computer1
IP 192.168.1.25

I tried to log in using the ip but did not have any luck...

I looked at the dhcp saw the PC name on there with the ip address of 192.168.0.10 which managed to work and i can log in. I want to work out why the computer name could not login.

So i did another NSlookup

nslookup 192.168.1.10

Result

Name: Phone
Address: 192.168.1.10

That ip address apears to be a phone which its not correct

Any idea whats going wrong and how i can fix it?  It is all working with a Windows Active directory

Instead of tearing your hair out trying to do it this way did you consider using a program like VNC Viewer? There's software you install on the host and remote access software you install on the remote client. I only recommend using it on a private network though. It would give you the ability to assign names to your network clients and access them without having to type in IP's.

If you do this though it's highly recommended to assign static IP's to every machine you want to remote into. If their IP changes VNC Viewer will lose the ability to remote in.

I am sure the PC's in the active directory DHCP should have should have the clock icon rather than the pen

image.png.3458673f31484e9d491c631ac02bcf8b.png   Active lease, DNS dynamic update pending. This address is not available for lease by the DHCP server.

Cant find anything that will fix it on google i have done a ipconfig /release.

You could probably roll this so the DHCP server/service would update the DNS service itself and not rely on the client:
