Should be a fit, if you want to overclock as well that is a great combo. (YOU SHOULD OVERCLOCK)

I am just scared that I should have waited for the 9th gen cpus.... I could have gotten a slightly better cpu for the same price.  I have 60 days to return these products and if I can get a 9th gen for the same price then I should do it right?

You probably could. Or you could get a AMD Ryzen. Or wait out 20 years for parts...

8700K can usually go up to 5 GhZ. I have one, but since I only have a stock cooler... :/

There's no guarantee that the 9th gen Intel parts will be out in time. The 8700K will remain a very solid gaming CPU for years to come.

+1 Also an 8 core chip w/o HT performs about the same in multi threaded tasks as a 6 core with HT BUUUUT HT can cause higher frametimes in some cases.

Soooo basically The next generation will be better but not as good as the jump from kaby lake to coffee lake - nothing to be sad about.

Yeahh it's a pricey board, but that by no means IMO makes it high end i.e. better than many cheaper boards can be.

But I havn't read into any of the specs of the capacitors or anything so I really don't know I'm genuinely intrigued how you would know from that link or if you looked deeper?

OK firstly "some of the best boards in the business is a terrible qualifier saying there aren't all that many brands out there, 2nd any company can make a bad board, 3rd just looking at this motherboard I can at least tell it's sub optimal I mean just look at the VRM surface area is awful and what's the cheap plastic cover on the I/O for?!? It just dosn't look like the money is going to good places.

All Strix Z370 and X470 boards have actual heatsinks over their VRMs.

Have you seen that board?!? It may have a heatsink but it barely has any surface area?!?
